The Best Movies in the MCU

The Best Movies in the MCU   Here's my personal ranking of the top 5 MCU movies as Marvel's Phase 5 continues in earnest. Over the course of 34 movies, Marvel Studios has become the biggest force in Hollywood, earning $29.6 billion. These films are knowing for directly impacting each other, but each one needs to work on its own. While the overall quality is uniformly high a fare few are outright bad, however most are at least above-average, MCU movies can be broken into categories ranging from the 5-star classics to misfires. At number five is Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 The High Revolutionary’s villain plot in the third instalment may be another entry of the "burn the world down and build a better one" trope we've all seen over and over, but it's a small price to pay for the quality of James Gunn's trilogy-ender. Star-Lord goes home (and promises a solo spin-off), Drax becomes a father again, Gamora is cut free of Quill's love, Mantis is gift...

The Worst Trends in The MCU

The Worst Trends in The MCU The current Phase Four, which includes films like Thor: Love and Thunder and The Eternals and TV shows like Hawkeye and Ms. Marvel, has been the worst critically reviewed phase in the MCU's lifespan. Could this be because audiences are resistant to certain new and ongoing trends in the universe?   Everything Needs to Be Funny  Films are becoming increasingly joke-heavy. Surprisingly, the more jokes that are present, the less funny the films are. The prominent example in Phase Four is Love and Thunder, which took what could've been a weighty story and undermined it with unfocused humour. The comedy of the MCU was once a huge selling point for the franchise. Some films, such as the Homecoming trilogy and the Guardians of the Galaxy movies, still manage to balance humour and heart effectively. These exceptions are in short supply these days. MCU Films Always Kill the Vill...

Are Superhero Movies a Thing of The Past

Are Superhero Movies a Thing of The Past Although fans have continued flocking to theatres to see new superhero movies, there are several indications that audiences and critics are indeed experiencing so-called "superhero fatigue." From declines in positive reviews to less-predictable box office results, the superhero genre may be headed for trouble. Fans state that there are many reasons for this decline: First being that the storylines are becoming far too repetitive. Many viewers feel the plots are now too predictable, without anything changing from the last release. Due to movie audiences tiring overseeing the same story too many times. It would be wise for the DCEU and MCU to start shaking things up in their upcoming films, rather than sticking to the same formula. Secondly the movies often rely on cameos Sometimes, film franchises that fear dwindling popularity will use certain tactics to keep audiences interested. Including one or multiple cameo...

Why Are Superhero Movies Important?

Why Are Superhero Movies Important? Superhero movies have brought joy to people of all ages, race, gender and social status for years now through the use of storytelling. However, like everything, they also face their own type of scrutiny from public opinion while being compared to several hours of nonsense not to be taken seriously. With a variety of people even going as far to say that these movies are silly, lack conviction and are too far-fetched. But why is this? Is it because a successful billionaire and genius like Tony Stark makes it impossible to emphasis with? Does the super solider serum take away Steve Rodgers humanity? Or is Wakanda to futuristic to motivate viewers to never stop reaching for their dreams. The short answer is no. They have drawn in some of the biggest stars in the film industry for example Samuel L. Jackson, Bradley Cooper and Michelle Pfeiffer as well as performers skyrocket to fame on the back of their Marvel Debut. But what is it that makes these ...

Did Superhero Movies Restructure Cinema

Did Superhero Movies Restructure Cinema?  14th October, 2024   Being around for almost as long as the comics they are based off,  however they only became a thing of great success in 2008 with the release of Iron Man  featuring Robert Downey Jr. and The Dark Knight featuring Christian Bale  that changed the course of cinema history. The fast-paced and witty production of Iron Man launched the marvel cinematic universe, a series of interlocked films in which characters crossed freely into each other's stories  and teamed up every few movies to defeat a cosmos-threatening menace   Iron Man was followed in rapid succession by The Incredible Hulk (2008), Iron Man 2 (2010), Thor (2011), Captain America: The First Avenger (2011) and, in 2012, The Avengers, which brought the characters from the previous five films together in a $1.5 billion-earning game-changer.
